Stephanie Davis shares heartbreaking essay and video following suicide attempt

The actress said she hoped to inspire others

Actress Stephanie Davis, who plays Sinead O’Connor in Hollyoaks, has shared a heartbreaking essay about her battle with mental health and a suicide attempt.

She also shared a video of her sobbing and saying “I can’t live anymore.”

The actress, 26, posted an emotional explanation for her recent relapse to her new Instagram account.

She said that she is now in recovery and that she hopes by sharing such heart-rending content she will inspire others to get the help they may need.

Her post included: “I haven’t been back to work because the real truth is I relapsed and tried to kill myself.

“This was a suicide video I was leaving behind saying I’m sorry and cannot continue. I can still feel the pain in my chest when I watch this, it’s really hard to watch.

“I relapsed after a long time sober, I did so well and I am proud of myself for that.

“I was working on something which I went through in real life that brought up a lot of pain for me, I lost my trust and self worth, I hated myself and didn’t feel good enough anymore, it’s hard being a single mum, my uncle died and I was battling badly with my mental health without any help or medication and I finally broke.”

She referenced her high functioning autism diagnosis, as well as struggling with anxiety and being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.

I haven’t been back to work because the real truth is I relapsed and tried to kill myself.

She also added that she had shared such personal details because she wanted to help others.

The mum-of-one continued: “If I wasn’t in the public eye, I would be dealing with this with my family and loved ones, but I feel I need to be honest because the pain I’ve been through has been so UNBEARABLE that I HAVE to help other people.”

Stephanie played Sinead O’Connor on Hollyoaks between 2010 and 2015, when she was reportedly fired after appearing on set drunk and disorderly.

She went on to appear on Celebrity Big Brother and complete several stints at rehab.

Giving birth to son Caben-Albi George Davis in 2017, the father is her former partner and reality television personality Jeremy McConnell.

She returned to her soap role in 2018 and has been regularly updating her social media followers on her mental health and wellness updates over the last year.
