EastEnders’ Martin Fowler could be set to become a new villain.
Fruit and veg stall holder Martin surprised fans by returning to Walford on Friday night and it has been claimed his life on the run will have changed him.
Soap boss Kate Oates has hinted that Martin could be a new villain.
She told The Sun: “We will see a very different side to Martin, which James [Bye] is loving, I believe.
“It gives him a chance to get his teeth into something different.”
It comes after Martin made his return to Walford after his daughter Bex attempted to take her own life.
But instead of going to see his daughter in the hospital, Martin instead went straight back to Albert Square and hid in the shadows.
He waited ominously outside the Beales’ house and watched as Ben walked outside in a panic at having his life threatened by the Panesar Brothers.

Viewers are convinced Martin now has a plan to kill Ben to stop him from releasing the evidence that Stacey attacked his dad Phil.
One said: “Martin looked like he was going to kill Ben. The Panesars were good #EastEnders.”
A second said: “Martin has always had that anger streak. He wants to rip [Ben] apart like a piece of paper.”
A third said: “Martin looked so evil toward Ben, which means trouble is brewing.. Can’t wait for next week!

Meanwhile, another said on the Digital Spy forums: “I think Martin could try and kill Ben…”
Viewers know Martin fled Walford earlier this year when wife Stacey clobbered Phil Mitchell over the back of the head – leaving him for dead in The Arches.
After threats by Ben Mitchell – who wanted to keep Stacey’s involvement quiet in order to frame Keanu – Martin and Stacey and their kids ran.

Now he’s back and wants revenge but it won’t be something easily achieved as Ben still has the evidence of Stacey’s guilt.
Spoiler pictures have shown a furious Martin attacking Ben in Walford.
Ben isn’t too rattled by Martin’s big man act as he knows what he has over Martin’s wife, Stacey.
But later in the week Ben’s going to have to turn to Martin for help – will he get it or will Martin leave Ben to suffer?
